Yoga Therapist (Level 6) trains qualified yoga teachers to use yoga therapeutically for chronic conditions, rehabilitation and integrative health. Total tuition ₹55,000.

Syllabus
  • Unit 1 – Yoga and Human Body (Anatomy & Physiology): Musculoskeletal system, joints, ligaments, tendons; Blood & Immune system; Cardiovascular system
  • Respiratory system & mechanism of breathing; Digestive system & enzymatic secretions; Excretory system & temperature regulation
  • Endocrine system (Thyroid, Parathyroid, Adrenal, Pituitary, Pancreas); Special senses; Reproductive system; Nervous system (cerebrum, cerebellum, ANS)
  • Homeostasis and physiological basis of mind-body intervention
  • Yogic Psychology: cognitive processes, consciousness in Vedas, Upanishads, Bhagavad Gita, Yoga Sutra, Yoga Vasishtha; methods of elevating consciousness
  • Yoga and Diet: Yogic concept of Ahara, Mitahara, Yuktahara; therapeutic dietetics
  • Unit 2 – Fundamental Principles of Yoga Therapy: definitions, scope and goals; preventive, promotive and curative aspects
  • Role of Shuddhi Prakriyas — Karma, Ghata, Snayu, Prana, Indriya, Mano, Chitta Shuddhi
  • Unit 3 – Application of Yoga Therapy in Traditional Texts: Bhagavad Gita for psychological disorders; Sthita Prajna; Karma, Jnana, Dhyana, Bhakti Yoga in therapy
  • Patanjala Yoga Sutra and Hatha Yoga texts in therapeutic application
  • Unit 4 – Physiological & Psychological Effects of Hatha Yoga: Shatkriyas (peristalsis, vagal stimulation, sphincter regulation, GIT effects)
  • Asana types (stretching, pivoting, strengthening, inverted, pressing, equilibration); reciprocal inhibition; energy expenditure
  • Pranayama physiology — respiratory control, autonomic balance
  • Bandhas & Mudras: nerve reflexes, proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation, neurotransmitter modulation
  • Practical – Advanced Shatkarma (Vamana, Vastra & Danda Dhauti, Sutra & Jal Neti, Kapalabhati, Agnisara, Nauli, Sankhaprakshalana)
  • Sukshma & Sthula Vyayama, Surya Namaskara
  • Standing, sitting, prone, supine and topsy-turvy Yogasanas including Sirshasana and variations
  • Pranayama: Nadi Shodhana, Surya/Chandra Bhedi, Ujjayi, Bhastrika, Sheetali, Sitkari
  • Meditation: Antarmauna, Ajapa Japa, Yoga Nidra, Dharana, Om/Vipassana/Preksha Dhyana
  • Bandhas (Jalandhara, Uddiyana, Mula, Maha) and Mudras (Maha, Bhairavi, Yoni, Shambhavi, Shanmukhi)
  • Yoga therapy protocols for musculoskeletal, respiratory, cardiovascular, GI, neurological, obstetric/gynecological (PCOD, PMS, menopause), endocrine/metabolic (diabetes, thyroid, obesity)
  • Yoga therapy for psychological/psychiatric disorders (OCD, PTSD, depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, ADHD, addiction) and old-age problems
  • Assessment Skill: anthropometry, BMI, BSA, vital signs, clinical examination
  • Assessment: Theory 100 marks + Practical 100 marks (Total 200, 46 credits); 100 hrs contact program on Anatomy & Physiology
